Income tax filling for 2015 is fast approaching. We at MAS Tax Oakleigh & Ormond can help with your tax return Oakleigh and surrounds. Our office is just down the road in Ormond – we want you to be as prepared as possible. Try to avoid the mad rush and just check out the list given below. It’s a way of saying ‘ help us to  help you’ to get you the maximum tax refund in the shortest possible time. All details should be pertaining to the period from 1st July 2014 to 30th June 2015 only.

Income / Revenue streams

  • Group certificate/s ( given by your employer)
  • Details of lump sum payments and or termination benefits received
  • Details of interest received from banks and other institutions
  • Details of dividends received from investments made. (Shares, businesses etc)
  • Rental income received from investment properties
  • Capital gains from shares and sale of investment properties
  • Income received on your personal ABN
  • Any other income ( foreign income, businesses etc)

Expenses/ Allowable deductions

  • Motor Vehicle expenses (details Log book details, Purchase price of vehicle, 5,000km maximum mileage, or 1/3rd of actual expenses incurred – we will decide on the best option for you )
  • Uniforms and work related clothing expenses ( including laundry expenses )
  • Business travel expenses
  • Details of office work done from home
  • Insurance – Income protection & Health ( offset)
  • Payments to approved charities
  • Any other work related expenses (have it ready even in doubt we will assess if deductible.)

Other details

(please have the following information as well)

  • TFN and ABN ( if available)
  • Residential address, phone number , email etc
  • Last notice of assessment sent by ATO ( if available)
  • Copy of last tax return (if available)
  • Nature of job or profession
  • Details of spouse income with TFN
  • Bank details ( BSB and account number – for your refund!)

The list looks long, but yet still not exhaustive. We apologize for this. However it is very important we capture all of the above details to avoid redoing your tax return or lose out on a larger tax refund. You do not need to visit our office personally, just scan the documents and email it. We will take it from there. It’s that easy!
