We aim to achieve this by providing a personalised service to each of our clients and considering more than just your standard tax return details.

To help you to maximise your Tax Return 2016 Kew and feel organised this Tax Season, we have put together a quick list of the items you will need to for eligible tax claims, and what to bring to your Tax Return Appointment. These include:

  1. Claiming eligible tax deductions:

  • Keep your receipts and invoices for work-related expenses: It’s important that you keep an organised record, either paper or electronic, of your work-related costs. To be able to claim a work-related expense, the purchase must have been for your job, paid using your own money, and you were not later reimbursed by your employer. This could include office supplies, tools, a compulsory uniform, and mobile phone or internet expenses.
  • Vehicle Logbook: If you need to travel for work, you may be able to claim some of the travel costs in your tax return, including fuel and car expenses. For this, you will need to keep a detailed vehicle logbook, which includes information about the time and distance of each trip, and your fuel receipts. You will need to record your trip details for 12 continuous weeks, for every 5 years, and this will then represent your vehicle usage for each financial year during the 5-year period.

DOWNLOAD our MAS Tax Car Logbook for your work and/or business-related travel trips. Remember to keep a separate logbook for each vehicle.

  • Keep any other relevant documents, such as any payment summaries, bank statements, receipts for work-related expenses and repairs, contracts, and rental records.

Deduction allowances will vary between jobs and industries, so you should always keep your relevant receipts, logbooks and documents, and seek advice from your Accountant. We can advise you on whether or not you can make a certain tax claim.
